Hey all,
I've not really commented on the events as a whole over the past few days. So I thought I'd share my thoughts about what has happened and some opinions (completely my own) of the system up until now.
As you all know, I'm not in game and watch most of what happens in game from the forums themselves. This gives a very bias view of what is happening and means that my opinion is not always justified. Therefore I try not to get too involved in what happens and try and stay out of most of the posts. Most of the time when I post it's simply to remind people of what is written in the System Structure, which you all still follow it seems.
To be honest, I'm glad that some of the people that have left the system have moved on. This is simply because since the system's inception they've been hell bent on getting whatever they can out of the system for themselves. This happened from day one and people like Semhut have worked tirelessly to try and stay as true to the System Structure as he can. I applaud him for this.
Why do I think the System Structure is so important?
Simply because without it's guidelines, the system ceases to exist. If all you care about is your guild and not the system, then how can it go on? People join the system expecting it to be as what is laid out. After all what people forget is this is for those that want a great Jedi experience. That should always be people's aim. NOT for people to get power hungry and make their own experience how they want it. There is a bit of sacrifice required with this, and some people wont accept that.
Most of the problems DFL had with LIGHT were purely based on their own selfish vision of where "DFL" was going. They didn't really care about the system as a whole. For if they did they would never have left the mess they did. Unfortunately my own apprentice fell to the dark side and joined them - Dunn...
You see unlike any other player content in the game, LvD is about two guilds working together to achieve a higher aim. NOT about two separate guilds working how they see fit. There were alot of members of DFL that didn't appreciate this concept. It is for this reason it seems that they've gone through the transition to split away.
As I said in another post, it would have been nice for those in power to just step down and form another guild, leaving the system in tact. But of course, like every other time, they've chosen to worry more about their own guild and not about the system - making life hard for those that want to enjoy the great player content that is created.
I don't need to play the game to make these assessments. In fact, the fact that I remain outside the game allows me to view things from another level. I do still get alot of information coming in about what is going on in game from different people.
I know this will continue to live on. You know why? Because to keep something like this going for a year is an amazing feat and I applaud all those involved (those here now and those that have moved on). Also those that are joining up now, you've got some amazingly dedicated people in charge - from Semhut, Cerneo to Tefilp and Eswilin - and all the others that are in between.
This is not a simple system and those that broke away know that. You don't always get your way. But people need to be mature when thinking about the influence they want to place on what is created here and take a step back, a deep breath and think of the higher goal. After all it's a living, breathing system, every person has a place and influences how it runs.
Just some food for thought. Keep up the good work guys. I'm truly honoured to have been apart of setting this all up ;D
P.S: For those that don't know because they are new, the only reason I don't play is because of work and I honestly struggle time to read the forums But hopefully soon I'll be back for a bit. Can I also ask that forums get better moderated now from the blue ghosts Or appoint a DARK and LIGHT forum moderator
