Not sure if you meant for this to be a rp thread or not...
If so I will simply edit my post, I would like to ask what your trying to ask? If its simply questions about Jedi lore from the EU and such then I understand if its based off of ingame knowledge....well none is there.
For anyone looking for EU things,
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jedi check here and the links off of that site. You may also look into the SWRPG pen and paper game that has loads on stuff that is cannon. To bad some of the books are out of print.
Most of it is fairly simple, Lucas formed the idea of Jedi culture/belief system, basically taking the best parts from a few of the major religions in our culture, Hindu, Buddhism, Islam, Chastity, and a few others. Then he placed in the code of ethics taking parts form those religions and others. Giving us the Jedi code.
Whats interesting about it, is that the parts and ideas he took from each religion mesh very well and it gives us something that be can believe in as movie viewers due to already knowing the ideas they are talking about on the screen. I think this is also why its so popular allover the world rather than in just some places.
Where he runs into the problem is that he never picked an ending for the story, all religions have something that happens at the end, for the Jedi this is "become one with the force" but this is never really shown other than a way for the dead to help the living. Seems a fairly unhappy way to go out to be immortal like that.
One of the nice things about Jedi is that they seem to have no after affects of killing things, this is very odd because in all of the religions this is pulled from killing is a no-no. Ofcourse they don't want to but they also have nothing to fear from it if they do it out of danger or to save another. This differs from say Buddhism almost 180 where killing is at the top of the no-no list.
Then you also have what seems to be constant pulls of the darkside calling out to light Jedi. Seen clearly with Anakin in EP1/2 and ofcourse 3. Here they play up another side of Buddhism that is no-attachment. Where he slowly goes to the dark side for not being able to let go of the ones he loves/cares for.
They also tie in ofcourse the Christianity reference with the "born of the force" and savior that Anakin was suppose to be. Then we hit the huge plot twist where he infact joins the dark side. Again such a drastic turn from where he pooled his ideas from.
Yet somehow he remains the 'chosen one' even after he goes and destroys countless lives and ruins peace in the galaxy.
Enter Luke who runs in gives some lines about love and bang Anakin is back to the light side, thus carrying out his prophecy of bringing balance back to the force, but heres the problem, how the hell does killing the only two sith lords in in the galaxy bring balance back to the force?
So I think to better understand the ways to understand how to play a Jedi just go read up on what its based on.
Holy hell I was bored.....
