I was reading through the system structure post again and combined with my converstaions with Manc made me think there is a hole in our ranking system. As it stands now there is no way for a person to train a padawan if not on the council, become a Knight if not on the council, or have a status if not on the council other than Padawan or Sentinel so I propose the following:
Jedi Chancellor - Leader of the Jedi Council
Jedi Council Member - Jedi Master who is currently on the council.
Jedi Master - Member of the Council or someone who has previously been a member of the council. Obtained once the council admits you as a member. Once you are off the council you still retain Master status.
Jedi Knight - Jedi who has passed the Knight Trials, but has not passed the council trial and been admitted onto the council. A Jedi Knight is able to train a padawan, but the Padawan must still complete the Council Trial before being admitted onto the council and must complete a difficult task set forth by a Council member to compensate for not being trained by a Master. This is for people who wish to be active in training a paddy, the council (although not a voting member), and the guild to a larger extent than a Sentinel.
Jedi Padawan - Young Jedi who is still training under either a Knight or a Master. (Same system as we have now)
Jedi Sentinel - Jedi who only wishes to pvp and not get involved in the council. Not able to train a padawan that will be recognized by the council.
Really this is not all that different than the system in place now. One of the things that jumped out at me was there was no provision for someone who leaves the council in terms of ranking. Once you leave the council you are reverted to either a padawan or sentinel? And if you want to get back on the council how does that happen? There are issues we have not tackeled yet, but I think a ranking system like this or similar to this allows more flexibility for us and more clearly defines your current and past status. It also gives people who want to train a paddy under the system but dont want to be on the council an avenue to do so.
Mancini is a good example. He may not want to be on the council, but he is a very experienced player and could offer a LOT of guidance and training to a padawan.
Please post your thoughts on this.

Only problem I see with this idea is that it makes it very hard to keep track of everyone and what they are doing. Seeing as a Knight will not be required to be in the guild. It's hard enough at the moment to keep track of the Knights we have in the current system.
Also, the Padawan will be admitted to the Council by a Master who doesn't even know how the Council works because he isn't on it. This is a problem. Communication through training is one of the most important things in this system. This link would not exist.
It's good to try and appeal to everyone, but it's not practical for the above reasons. Padawans would be pushed onto the Council from Masters who aren't even on the Council and it'll be extremely hard to keep track of who is who, doing what and training who.
A change like this would need to take place in both Dark and Light Councils as it is a fundemental change.
As for what is to come of people who leave and wish to come back. I suggest the re-invite be done through a voting system by the Council. So if a Jedi Knight leaves, it should be up to the Council if they want that Jedi back if they decide to come back. There should be no reason to go back through the Padawan trials again. We need to discuss this issue at an upcoming meeting.

I dont think it is any more difficult to keep track of than what we have now. We should probably have everyone put a blurb about their involvment in the system in their Bios anyway which is an easy way to keep track. I would like for the full council to review this and possibly vote.

Just out of interest, who do you pick to be a "Jedi Knight" in your system. Or can just anyone do it?

Jede Knight would be a padawan who was trained under Master or another Knight and passed the Knight trials. (Thus the term "Knight" Trials)

So in the case of Mancini, he'd have to go through as a Padawan anyway...
I was under the impression this was one of the issues he had with the current system...

My thoughts... It seems as though this system simply takes what we've got and inserts a half way point between our existing "Council Member" and "Jedi Sentinel" ranks. Currently, a Jedi Sentinel can attend Council Meetings and train a Padawan. So the question becomes how many Jedi Sentinels are in LIGHT who have Padawans that want to be recognized by the Council? If there are a lot people in this situation, we should look at implementing this. I honestly have no idea how many would fall into that category. Now, if this is just about Mancini, or 1 or 2 other people then it could be more efficient to have a vote and/or trial to determine whether he can train a Padawan that could be promoted. I guess I'm just more curious on whether we need to change the rule or just make an exception to it?
The discussion about losing track of more ranks is getting ahead of ourselves, since (correct me if I'm wrong but..) nobody keeps track of the ranks right now. We need to discuss keeping track before we can discuss losing track. I liked Semhut's bio idea but it'd also be cool to have a post or site where people can go to see all of the member rankings.
Wanted to add one more quick thing. Re-joining the Council or Guild should be determined by a Council vote. When this started, I'd spoken with a couple other council members and we assumed that's how it would work and I know that's what I'd been telling members who asked about leaving.

I think that semhut's post on this says it all. I don't see how it makes sense in anyway for a sentinel to be able to train a padwan. The defintion of a sentinel is not to be interested in training a padwan. So if a sentinel can train a padawan whats the point in callin him a sentinel. From the way i see it as it stands the system works, but that it could also be expanded upon. This is how i would like to have the ranking system come to pass. All of semhuts ideas are basicly perfect except one rank title.jedi padwan I personally myself would like to see that rank called jedi padwan, be called jedi padwan and jedi apprentice I see a need for both titles as both are cannon to the movies. Obiwan did call anakin My Young apprentice. Both rank titles are defined as with the same role in the ranking system. Also I didn't see the rank youngling which would be defined as a lvl 1- 10 lvl charc. last I throughly believe that, all counsel members that leave the guild and wish to come back should be able to retain there rank. Here is a prime example for a reason why. Almost everyone has respects New professions get changed all the time and if for some unlikely reason they where tired of being a jedi and wanted to leave(cant imagine why lol) and they did not like there profession and desire to respect back to jedi. I can't see any reason why they should not be able to come back to the ranking system with there current rank that they had acheived. Also if a player quits the game and or has computer problems that keeps them out of the game for several months, Or a real life accident or incident that happens to prevent them from login on, I think they should be able to to get there rank back. I also agree and believe that getting back in the ranking system should be entirely up to the counsel, to vote the player back on the counsel. Doing all of this I think will expand the ranking system to where it needs to be. I hope thi helps ps chuck norris's mom had a c section when he was born. Ya he roundhouse kicked himself out of birth. rofl. Ngn washko
